Since 2018, Debbie Kent and Alisa Oleva have been leading soundwalks in London, exploring the city’s sonic landscape. In 2023, they are partnering with the Walk Exchange to create a series of walks exploring the soundscapes of London and New York City. Starting with one of their initial inspirations—Max Neuhaus, a New York City based sound artist who worked ‘with the sense of hearing’—the series will culminate in spring 2024 with simultaneous soundwalks.

A silent walk from 13th St. and Avenue D to Max Neuhaus’ sound installation Times Square. At the end of the walk participants were asked to share a sound that stood out to them. The resulting recording provides the sound wave for the map.
